Do I need a realtor when buying a home?

Whether it’s moving on to a new season of your life, purchasing your first home, making a real estate investment, upsizing, downsizing, whatever the case may be, the process never gets easier to do on your own. Using a buyer’s agent will save you a lot of time and money in the end. The buyer’s agent is responsible for finding listings and touring houses with you, negotiating the price and sale conditions, recommending services you will need, For example, mortgage lenders, home inspectors, etc., and helping with the paperwork that is involved. An experienced and professional buyer’s agent will work with you and make sure that your buying process is smooth and successful.

The main mistake that people make when going into the home buying process alone is that when they find a home they are interested in, and they call the listing agent for that property. You have to remember that the listing agent works for the seller. A buyer’s agent works for you! The buyer’s agent can personally contact that listing agent and request a showing of the house.

You also want to be sure that you find the right buyer’s agent for you. For instance we recommend not just settling with the first agent you meet. When searching for a buyer’s agent that is a great fit for you, consider these questions:

  • How familiar are they with your interested area?
  • What’s their schedule and availability?
  • What do their previous reviews suggest about them?
